The sea puts on a spectacular show all through the year.

The foreshore, scene of the biggest tides in Europe, turns into a giant playground. Once you've checked the tide timetable and read the recommendations, grab a dip net and set off to explore this stunning natural environment.

Cockles, clams, oysters, mussels and all kinds of shells lie in wait... see if you can find them!

Nature puts on a fantastic show, and you'll be amazed by how quickly the landscape changes under your very eyes. Watch the magic happen at every changing tide, by sunlight or moonlight. And when the wind decides to join in, the waves play leapfrog over the jetties, to the great delight of spectators.

At Destination Granville Terre et Mer, you'll share unforgettable moments, memories to be treasured forever.

The road disappears underwater... When the tidal coefficient goes over 93, a strange phenomenon happens in Havre de la Vanlée... The submersible road that goes through Havre, connecting Bricqueville-sur- Mer to the beach, is simply swallowed up by the sea. The marshes become a giant playground for watersports lovers and thrill-seekers.  Then, when the sea meets "La Vanlée" river, a special kind of wave is formed, known as a tidal bore. It's amazing to watch; you have to see it to believe it.

You can get hold of a very useful guidebook, "Le Guide des Marées et de la pêche à pied" at our Tourist Information Offices (€1.00), telling you about safety aspects and how best to watch the tide rising.
